The Mother, sometimes called a SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast), is the jelly-like, alien-looking, pancake-shaped culture responsible for fermenting kombucha.
Sounds weird?
Maybe. But it’s also what makes kombucha one of the most naturally powerful drinks on the planet.
Here’s what the Mother does:
